
The wood grips were all manufactured for Ruger by W.F. All Security-Six series revolvers came with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supplied service-style woodengrips.

From 339389 to 340086 there were about 700 made with XR3RED grip frames, and after that they were marked 'Ruger.22 Cal. This medium allowed a whole new generation of kids to enjoy the old B westerns of earlier decades. According to the book Know your Ruger Single Action Revolvers 1953-1963, Jan 1961was when the convertible 22s started showing up, serial number range 1734XX. The serial number on my gun has a letter in front of the number and I'm not seeing anything like that on the Ruger Website. I have been trying to date it with the serial number on the Ruger Website but I'm having a problem. I bought a nice Old Model Single-Six today to have some fun with.
